Dr Tee Jong Huat

Jong Huat’s research specialised in the impact of astrocyte-mediated neuroinflammation on Alzheimer’s disease.
Jong Huat’s research is focused on the molecular mechanism underlying astrocyte-mediated neuro-inflammation in Alzheimer’s disease as well as during ageing. In his study, he will use both in vitro and in vivo approaches to investigate neuro-inflammatory related pathways.
Jong Huat has obtained his BSc (Hons) in Biological Sciences from the University Malaysia Terengganu, Malaysia. In the year 2013, he was awarded a doctoral research fellowship from University Sains Malaysia to pursue his PhD degree under the mentorship of Prof. Dr Hasnan Jaafar and Prof. Dr Jafri Malin Abdullah. Jong Huat’s PhD research focused on the role of essential microRNA in growth factor-mediated neural differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells and was successfully completed in the year 2017. Jong Huat is passionate about stem cell research and interested in exploring the potential application of stem cell in treating neurodegenerative diseases. In January 2018, Jong Huat joined the Neurula Lab as associate research fellow and applied his skills to investigate the impact of astrocyte-mediated neuro-inflammation on Alzheimer’s disease.
