Layered Double Hydroxide (LDH) nanoparticles for dsRNA delivery in plants

Mounting world population and the estimated reduction of global crop yields make increasing agriculture production be crucial. Plant pathogens is a major concern that affects crop yield while current approaches of plant protection are not efficient. Hanqing Zhang's project is mainly focused on synthesizing LDH as a carrier for dsRNA (BioClay) for antiviral purpose, as well as characterisation of LDH nanoparticles with dsRNA loaded. BioClay is aiming to be highly stable, efficient, and have low impact to the environment to help generate resistance against pests and pathogensin plants.
