​Dr. Sidong Yang specialises in Intervertebral disc degeneration and its regeneration using a bioengineering way.

In 2011, Dr Sidong Yang was conferred with the Bachelor's degree of Medicine in Preventive Medicine, after his five-year study in Hebei Medical University, China. He then continued his further study during the period of 2011-2014 in Hebei Medical University and got his Master's degree of Medicine in Surgery in 2014. Since then, he joined The Third Hospital of Hebei Medical University and worked as an Orthopaedic Surgeon. At the same time, he received the specialist training for orthopaedic surgeons during 2014-2017 in The Third Hospital of Hebei Medical University. In August 2018, he began to work as a visiting academic in Bone Group, ANZAC Research Institute, The University of Sydney. And then, In September 2019, he joined Cooper-White group and worked as a visiting academic at the Australian Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology, The University of Queensland. In January 2020, Dr. Sidong Yang formally commenced his PhD study at the Australian Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology, The University of Queensland, with Prof. Justin Cooper-White being his principal supervisor.
