Dear colleagues and partners,

I am writing to share that I have accepted a new position as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation) at the University of Wollongong and will be stepping down as Director of the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology towards the end of the year.

Over the past decade, I have had the privilege of working alongside you to advance our research. The extraordinary talent, expertise, and research infrastructure at AIBN have enabled us to deliver solutions with real-world impact. But it has been the strength of our partnerships and collaborations that has truly made this possible.

While it is bittersweet to be leaving, I am confident AIBN is exceptionally well positioned for the future. The institute is ready to lead the next wave of innovation in Australia and across the globe.

I understand UQ will soon commence recruitment for my successor, ensuring that AIBN’s global standing continues to grow and its impact is further strengthened.

I am deeply grateful for your support and engagement throughout my time as Director and look forward to staying connected, knowing AIBN and its partners will continue to deliver remarkable outcomes.

Warm regards,
Alan
