Subject: Help us accelerate MND Research this UQ Giving Day
Dear *NAME*,
Today in Australia, two people will hear the words "You have motor neuron disease (MND)” - and two others will lose their lives to it.
MND has no known cause, and for most, treatment options are limited. But there is hope.
On Wednesday 15 October, I am joining with The University of Queensland’s Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN) to raise funds for 50 medical smartwatches. These devices can be worn at home to capture real-time insights for inclusion in an upcoming clinical trial - accelerating our understanding of how the disease responds to a promising new therapy.
You can give anytime between 1 and 15 October 2025. Every gift is tax deductable and this year UQ will match eligible donations, doubling your impact.
Will partner with us as we move closer to a future free from MND?
With appreciation,
[Your Name]
Newsletter
If you have access to a community, workplace, or organisational newsletter, this is a powerful way to spread the message widely. Newsletter content highlights the urgency and importance of supporting MND research and ensures your audience has the key details they need to get involved.

Join with us to accelerate breakthrough MND research
This October, join us to make life-changing research possible for people living with motor neuron disease (MND), and support a world-first clinical trial.
MND is a debilitating neurological disease that affects nerve cells called 'motor neurons'. The average life expectancy is 2 to 3 years from diagnosis and currently, there is no cure.
Researchers at The University of Queensland’s Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN) are investigating whether Trimetazidine, a commonly used heart medication can improve metabolism, function, and quality of life for people with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), the most common form of MND.
On October 15, they are raising funds for 50 medical smartwatches. These devices can be used at home to capture real-time data that can be included in the trial - accelerating our understanding of how the disease responds to a promising new therapy.
We are standing with AIBN to move closer to a world free from MND, will you stand with us?
“This is about hope – for people living with MND today, and for the breakthroughs that could change everything tomorrow.” - Professor Shyuan Ngo, Co-Director, UQ Centre for MND Research
