AIBN works with industry to translate cutting-edge science

From breakthroughs in personalised medicine; to the creation of clean energy systems; and the use of biological materials to reduce reliance on fossil fuels - the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN) is making an impact and solving some of society’s biggest challenges.

Founded in 2004, the AIBN, proudly based within The University of Queensland, is uniquely outward facing and fosters strong industry partnerships. We work closely with our partners, translating cutting edge science from the lab bench to the production line.

Working within the AIBN’s labs are some of the world’s most recognised academic experts, along with nine of the country’s most innovative research infrastructure facilities. All of which position the AIBN perfectly to enable the future.

When it comes to precision nanomedicine, advanced biomanufacturing and nanoengineered materials, if you dream it, we can do it.

Our commitment to equity and diversity

AIBN believes that teams built on equity, diversity and respect enable stronger innovation, greater creativity and happier people.

We are a melting pot of people from different cultures, ages, genders and backgrounds who welcome diversity of thought, ideas and approaches. With more than 75% of our team under 30 and more than 50% women, we strive to embody diversity.

Our exciting mix of cultures, approaches, and experiences creates an energetic, entrepreneurial and supportive atmosphere, which leads to creative solutions.

In 2017 AIBN established the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Commission, to develop and implement initiatives around equity, diversity, respect and inclusion.
