- Contact the project supervisor to discuss your interest
- Receive confirmation that you have been accepted, and proceed to apply through the relevant link.

Open to everyone
Earmarked scholarships
Funded by the Australian Government to assist PhD students with their living costs and tuition fees. Also offers PhD students the opportunity to contribute to large projects of national significance and work with leading researchers.
Graduate School Scholarships (UQGSS) – includes Research Training Program (RTP)
Provides a living stipend to support you as you complete a research project for your Doctor of Philosophy, Master of Philosophy or a research-focused professional doctorate at UQ.
Research project scholarship
Supports you to complete a higher degree by research while focusing on a specific project.
International students
ANID Becas Chile Scholarship
You're eligible if you're a Chilean national or you have obtained an unconditional offer or a conditional offer to study at The University of Queensland. Support is available for up to 4 years for PhD students.
UQ-Indian Institute of Technology Joint PhD program
Receive a scholarship to study at two world-leading, research-intensive institutions – The University of Queensland (UQ) and the Indian Institute of Technology (IITD) – on multidisciplinary projects. Upon successful completion of the program, you will be offered a jointly awarded Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from both UQ and IITD.
CONACYT Mexican Scholarship Program
Aims to provide Mexican citizens with funding to support studies overseas at the point of admission or while they are undertaking studies abroad to enhance their skills in areas of Science, Technology and Innovation and contribute back to Mexico and form linkages with global partner institutions.
Australia Awards Scholarship
Provides full tuition fees, living expenses, and other allowances to recipients from eligible countries in Asia, the Pacific, the Middle East, and Africa.
Destination Australia Scholarship
Provides financial support to both domestic and international students studying in regional Australia. This scholarship covers The University of Queensland’s Gatton Campus only.
Destination Australia Cheung Kong Exchange Program
Supports Australian universities to offer short-term mobility opportunities for outgoing Australian students and incoming Asian students between Australia and the following Asian countries: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, China (including Hong Kong), India, Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Republic of the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
Mobility experiences must be between two weeks and one semester in duration.
Students can only apply through their university for a short-term mobility experience supported by the Destination Australia Cheung Kong Exchange Program.

International scholarships
Are you from the United Kingdom?
The Northcote Postgraduate Scholarship enables students from the UK to undertake a higher degree at an Australian university for up to three years.
The UK Government’s Turning Scheme provides funding for learning opportunities at a selection of education providers.
Are you from the United States?
US students can often bring their US Financial Aid with them to their education institution in Australia, including for one or two semesters’ study abroad.
Many international and charitable organisations offer US scholarships for international study, including the Fulbright program. You can explore the full range of scholarships available for studying abroad at the Institute of International Education (IIE) website, as well as scholarships for US service members and veterans.
You must apply for these scholarships in your home country.
Are you from China?
The China Scholarship Council (CBC) is the main source of government funding for Chinese citizens to study a PhD abroad. Awards are usually offered jointly with universities and targeted at specific research areas.
