Xinqi specialises in molecular biotechnology, focusing on synthetic biology in yeast and gene knockout techniques.

Xinqi is a Master’s student in Molecular Biology at The University of Queensland. Her current research focuses on synthetic biology in yeast, specifically engineering Yarrowia lipolytica through targeted gene knockouts to enable efficient production of the amino acid tryptophan. She has experience in molecular cloning, CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing, and microbial metabolic engineering. Xinqi is particularly interested in using non-conventional yeast as a chassis for biosynthesis of high-value compounds.
