Researcher biography

Dr Daming Ren specialises in advanced carbon-based and single-atom electrocatalysts for rechargeable metal–gas batteries, integrating materials synthesis, electrochemical analysis, synchrotron characterisation and computational modelling.

Dr Daming Ren is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology, The University of Queensland. He completed his PhD at the University of New South Wales under the supervision of Professor Liming Dai. His research focuses on the rational design and synthesis of advanced carbon-based materials and single-atom catalysts for rechargeable metal–gas batteries, including lithium–oxygen, lithium–carbon dioxide and aqueous zinc–carbon dioxide systems. His work combines materials synthesis, structural and spectroscopic characterisation, electrochemical evaluation, synchrotron X-ray techniques, in situ and operando analysis, and computational modelling to understand structure–property relationships and guide the development of efficient and durable energy-storage materials.
