Antonia specialises in the conversion of one-carbon waste streams into valuable products.

Antonia started her PhD studies in the Marcellin lab in October 2023, focusing on conversion of onc-carbon (C1) waste streams into valuable products. She works with the aerobic carboxydotroph Hydrogenophaga pseudoflava and aims to obtain a better understanding and expand the C1 metabolism. Antonia completed her bachelor's in biotechnology in 2023 (Emden, Germany) with a thesis (equivalent to honours) in the group of Esteban Marcellin, where she focused on pathway elucidation in the model acetogen Clostridium autoethanogenum. Afterwards, she worked as a research assistant with Q-MAP (Queensland Metabolomics and Proteomics) and the Marcellin group in the fields of proteomics and gas fermentation.
