Vishal specialises in designing and synthesis of spin labels for proteins for studying their structure and dynamics by Electron Paramagnetic Resonance Spectroscopy.

During my B.Tech in Biotechnology, I have worked on identification (16s rDNA sequencing) and characterisation (growth profiling, standard comparison) of a newly isolated carotenoid producing bacteria under the supervision of A/Prof Debjani Dutta. I was also trained at Indian Council of Medical Research Port Blair on basic microbiological and molecular biological techniques that include isolation of genomic DNA, Agarose gel electrophoresis and PCR for the diagnosis of Leptospirosis. Currently, my PhD project aims to develop new tools to reveal the structure and dynamics of complex protein systems within their native environment by combining innovative biochemistry, magnetic resonance spectroscopy and high performance computing.
