Chyden specialises in molecular and synthetic biology in bacteria and yeast.
Chyden completed his PhD at The University of Queensland where he investigated antibiotic resistance and virulence in E. coli using multidisciplinary techniques. Following this, he undertook postdoctoral training at the Institute for Molecular Bioscience, then worked on microbial diagnostics in industry. In his current role, Chyden uses molecular and synthetic biology tools to engineer microbial strains, contributing to the development of next-generation microbial cell factories.
Collaborations
Chyden has held national and international collaborations, including with Bostjan Kobe (The University of Queensland), BegoƱa Heras and Jason Paxman (La Trobe University), Joel Mackay (The University of Sydney), and Randy Read (University of Cambridge).
