Ting-Yu Lin specialises in neuronal lipid metabolism: lipid droplet formation, high-content fluorescence imaging, image analysis, and fatty acid utilisation in neurons.

Ting-Yu's research focuses on neuronal lipid metabolism, with an interest in lipid droplet formation and fatty acid utilisation in neurons. Her current research project investigates how changes in lipid availability and lipid metabolism affect lipid accumulation in neuronal cells. This work uses lipid staining, fluorescence imaging, and image analysis to quantify lipid-related changes under different treatment conditions, with the aim of better understanding how lipid metabolism may contribute to neuronal function and cellular homeostasis. Ting-Yu graduated from Chang Gung University in Taiwan with a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Imaging and Radiological Sciences. She is currently a Master of Biotechnology student at the University of Queensland. Ting-Yu’s research project is supervised by Dr Merja Joensuu and is based at the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology, with imaging-related work connected to the Queensland Brain Institute.
