Dr Shana John is an analytical chemist with extensive experience in metabolomics, lipidomics, proteomics and chemical analysis.
Dr Shana John is an interdisciplinary biomedical scientist whose research integrates metabolomics, lipidomics, proteomics, and systems biology to investigate mechanisms underlying human disease and cellular physiology. Her work spans translational medicine, analytical chemistry, and computational biology, with a particular emphasis on applying mass spectrometry-based multi-omics approaches to uncover disease mechanisms and identify novel biomarkers. In recent years, she has focused on paediatric respiratory and metabolic disorders, linking gut microbiome and cardiometabolic health, metabolomics and lipidomics approaches to investigate hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and unstable coronary plaques, and metabolic engineering. Complementing these studies, she has developed mass spectrometry-based analytical methods with applications in pharmacokinetics, toxicology, forensic science, and natural products research. Collectively, her work has advanced the application of multi-omics technologies and systems biology approaches to understanding complex biological systems and improving diagnostics, therapeutics, and biomanufacturing processes.
