Sharada Kolekar has spent the past 17 years in the field of Biomedical research.

During this time, Sharada has worked in India and New Zealand, and currently works in Australia, with her primary focus in the field of cellular biology and cancer biology. Sharada has worked in both pharmaceutical and academic research settings during this time.

Her experience involves various types of cellular assays and biochemical assays, including radiological protocols for the purpose of drug development and quality control, as well as for understanding the underlying mechanisms of biochemical and cellular processes behind disease progression such as Melanoma, Glioblastoma and Breast cancer.

She's also worked with multiple viruses such as Influenza, HSV, RSV and HMPV to study the effects of different genetic variations on viral infections, as well as for vaccine development.

During her years of research she's actively been part of 11+ publications in high-impact journals. While working in India, her research was successfully registered to a patent for cellular assay protocol.

Sharada is now a Principal Research Technician working for ViceBio on vaccine development.

She has a B.Sc. (hons) in Microbiology and Biotechnology and an M. Sc. Cellular Biology and Microbiology from Mumbai University, India.

She's also done a PGDip Biological Sciences from University of Auckland, NZ.
