BiG Chemicals: Biological Gas to liquid production of Chemicals, a systems biology approach
Duration:
March 2015–August 2018
Project Summary
This project is about advancing waste gas fermentation processes to enable the production of sustainable chemicals. LanzaTech are world leaders in microbial gas fermentation and have produced ethanol at large scale. This project is about combining the LanzaTech process with systems biology expertise at The Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology to go beyond ethanol to deliver new value-added products such as bioplastics. To achieve this, the project aims to understand and overcome fundamental energy and metabolic limitations in the production microorganism. Achieving the aims will be of direct relevance to Queensland Biofutures.
