Study

This project aims to develop an effective oral vaccine nanoplatform to induce a specific, long-term immune response against pathogen infection to reduce disease outbreaks and antibiotic use in the aquaculture industry. The desired nanoplatform will be engineered by revealing the interaction between nanoparticles with various properties and the mucus layer under intestine peristalsis and understanding how antigen-nanoparticles transport from the mucus layer to antigen-presenting cells. This research addresses a major knowledge gap relating to the transportation mechanism of antigens in the intestine. The efficient oral vaccine nanoplatform will generate enormous economic benefits to aquaculture industries.
