Engineering biomimetic nanoplatform for oral delivery

Developing novel biomimetic drug delivery platform based on nanoparticles with engineered morphology/architecture, mimicking gut microbes to achieve enhanced mucus penetration and transcytosis through intestinal epithelium for enhanced delivery of large biomolecules, i.e., pDNA, mRNA and protein. Specifically, in collaboration with industry partner Ridley (Australia’s leading animal nutrition provider), by loading natural antimicrobial enzyme into our nanoparticles, Jie and team evolved the platform into a nano-antimicrobial formulation, aiming to replace widely used antibiotics in animal feed.
