Program details and application

Higher Degree by Research (HDR) programs at AIBN include the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and the Master of Philosophy (MPhil).

Higher Degree by Research (HDR) students produce new knowledge that is innovative, relevant and progressive, as well as developing their expertise base. 

The UQ Graduate School provides central administration for the PhD and MPhil programs at UQ.

AIBN Entrepreneurial PhD Scholarship

The AIBN Entrepreneurial PhD offers an expanded PhD program that includes courses in entrepreneurship and mentoring, alongside an industry placement - preparing you for entrepreneurship in the research space. 

Successful candidates will complete UQ's Career Development Framework throughout the course of their PhD, and completion of the program qualifies you for a 6-month scholarship extension (maximum of 4 years).

Each year the Graduate School awards more than 600 scholarships. Full information about scholarships can be found on the Future Students website, which includes information regarding the UQ awarded scholarships as well as some common externally awarded scholarships.

  1. Review the available projects at our Student Projects or AIBN Projects pages to identify your area of interest and a potential advisor.
  2. Discuss your potential PhD or MPhil project with an AIBN Researcher. When contacting researchers, please send them your academic CV and academic documents. If you are invited to apply, you will be asked to submit an online application. A full overview of the application process for admission and scholarship is on the UQ Graduate School website.
