Program details and application
Higher Degree by Research (HDR) programs at AIBN include the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and the Master of Philosophy (MPhil).
Higher Degree by Research (HDR) students produce new knowledge that is innovative, relevant and progressive, as well as developing their expertise base.
The UQ Graduate School provides central administration for the PhD and MPhil programs at UQ.
UQ Entrepreneurial PhD Top-up Scholarship
As an Entrepreneurial Scholar, you will be equipped with leadership training and an entrepreneurial mindset, positioning you to create your own start-up or innovate within your future workplace.
Selected scholars will undertake a range of professional development activities alongside their PhD, including the Liveris Academy Program, specialised courses, entrepreneurship programs, and spend three months within a company to learn the business of research translation. Through these experiences they will have the opportunity to connect with industry partners and members of other scientific disciplines to expand their professional network.
To support participation in these experiences, a $10,000 annual top-up scholarship will be awarded for up to four-years FTE.
UQ Scholarships
Each year the Graduate School awards more than 600 scholarships. Full information about scholarships can be found on the Future Students website, which includes information regarding the UQ awarded scholarships as well as some common externally awarded scholarships.

- Discuss your potential PhD or MPhil project with an AIBN Researcher. When contacting researchers, please send them your academic CV and academic documents. If you are invited to apply, you will be asked to submit an online application. A full overview of the application process for admission and scholarship is on the UQ Graduate School website.
