Blakey Group

The Blakey group seeks to understand the relationships between the structure of polymeric/hybrid materials and their performance in applications such as nanomedicine, sensors and nanofabrication.

A key theme of the groups research is designing polymers with functional groups that can mediate their behaviour at material interfaces or surfaces for the controlled self assembly of hybrid particles or nanostructured thin films.

As well as exceling in their research project, PhD candidates are encouraged to develop transferable skills during their candidature through development programs offered by UQ. Graduates from the Blakey group have successful careers in academia, industry and government.
